Family covers responsibility for the formation and implementation of that part of family policy concerning marital relations, unmarried partners, parents and children, state policy regarding children, adoption, fostering and guardianship, and family incomes: child supplements, compensation for childbirth leave, parental supplement, childcare supplement, and the package for newborn children.

The basic document is the resolution on the grounds for the formation of family policy, a planning-strategic document which determines the direction of development of individual parts of family policy within the competence of individual ministries.
