By the Decision No 1672/2006/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 2006, a Community Programme for Employment and Social Solidarity – Progress was established. The programme is designed to financially support the implementation of the objectives of the European Union in the fields of employment and social affairs, as set out in the Commission Communication on the Social Agenda, and thereby contributes to the achievement of the Lisbon Strategy goals in those fields. The Programme runs from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2013. The Programme is divided into five sections:
- employment
- social protection and inclusion
- working conditions
- antidiscrimination and diversity
- gender equality.
In Slovenia, the responsibility for implementing the Programme lies with the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs.
