Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will obtain unemployment benefits under the same conditions as Slovenian citizens

On Friday, 17 December 2010, the Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Ivan Svetlik and Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sredoje Novic signed the Agreement amending the Agreement on social insurance between Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The agreement will make citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovinapossible to obtain unemployment benefits if they qualify under the law governing unemployment benefits, and have permanent or temporary residence in Slovenia. This means that as a condition is no longer required only permanent residence and that also citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will obtain unemployment benefits under the same conditions as Slovenian citizens.

The Agreement will enter into force after the ratification process in both parties - in Slovenia is expected before the end of this year, in Bosnia and Herzegovina they have to first to constitute a new Parliament, so the ratification can be expected in late February or early March.
