Delegation of Slovenia today in Geneva at the meeting of the Committee for the Rights of the Child

Today, there is an interactive dialogue between the Slovenian delegation led by representative of the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and the Committee of the United Nations on the Rights of the Child held at the Palace of the United Nations in Geneva. The aim of interactive dialogue between Slovenia and the Committee is to review the implementation of the commitments under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.


Each State Party sends the periodic report under the Convention on the Rights of the Child - pursuant to Article 44 of the Convention on the Rights of the Childand - two years after the ratification of the Convention and then every five years.  At the 63rd regular session of the Committee Slovenia will participate for the fourth time.


In her introduction Head of the Slovenian Delegation Ana Vodičar, M.Sc. will present the latest information in the field of children's rights in Slovenia. Her introduction will be followed by questions from Committee members, to which the delegation will answer still today. Next week the Committee will deliver its conclusions, which will be published on the website of the committee.


The Slovenian delegation is composed of experts, representatives of the ministries responsible for the implementation of the Convention. Besides the representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities ther are also the representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police.
