The annual International Labour Conference is being held in Geneva from 5 to 20 June 2013, with a focus on “Building a future with decent work”. The Conference is attended by a Slovenian delegation headed by Minister of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Anja Kopač Mrak, Ph.D..

This year on the 102nd session of the International Labour Conference were discussed the report of the Director-General: “Towards the ILO centenary: Realities, renewal and tripartite commitment”, Programme and Budget proposals for 2014 and 2015, reports on the application of Conventions and Recommendations, employment and social protection in the new demographic context, sustainable development, decent work and green jobs as well as social dialogue.

Minister of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal opportunities Dr. Anja Kopač Mrak attended the Conference on 18th of June 2013. She spoke on the plenary session of the Conference and among other issues emphasized that the crisis is affecting youth and older people as two of the most vulnerable groups. Youth is willing to start working life, to share the knowledge and therefore to contribute to the society’s well – being and older workers represents need for up-skilling, lifelong learning, improved working conditions and safety and health at working places to achieve longer working lives.

She stressed that the Government of the Republic of Slovenia has recently implemented many measures for both groups to shift long term employability for older workers and faster transitions from education to work for youth.

»Let us not forget it is about our future, it is about us and as we heard many times in the recent past –at the end it is all about people«, she ended.

Slovenian minister will also meet Predrag Bošković, the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare of the Montenegro. They will mainly discuss about the twinning project that is running between Slovenia and Montenegro.
