International conference "Labour market reform: new opportunities for a better tomorrow"

Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia is organising an international conference on labour market reform with the purpose of setting out the key challenges in the labour market which Europe is facing at the moment, to enhance the discussion on actions that would stimulate economic development and also to offer the opportunity for a public discussion on the proposed changes in the labour market in Slovenia

The introductory presentation of the labour situation in the EU will be given by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions; representatives from Germany and Austria will also present their experience in the field of reforming regulation that regulate employment relationships and employment to all participants. The latter two countries have been successfully coping with the challenges caused by the aggravated situation of macroeconomic ratios during the economic and financial crisis. The representative of the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs, in his presentation during the expert discussions in the first part of the conference, will focus on the challenge of labour market segmentation in Slovenia and various possible solutions.

 

In the afternoon, the European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, Mr László Andor, will present the view of the European Commission on labour market reforms. Views on possible methods of stimulating the potentials that would create new opportunities for Slovenia's economic growth and, therefore, increased employability will be presented by the Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs, Mr Andrej Vizjak, M. Sc., and the State Secretary at the Ministry for Economic Development and Technology, Mr Uroš Rožič, M. Sc. The discussion will also include representatives of Slovenian social partners who will present their views on changes being planned for the labour market.

 

The conference is intended for representatives of the government, employers and employees organisations who will be cooperating on the formation of labour market policies in Slovenia in the future, and for the expert and interested public who are in any way concerned with the subject of the conference. International conference "Labour market reform: new opportunities for a better tomorrow" will be held at Hotel MONS, Ljubljana, Slovenia, on September 17, 2012.
